Fredericton, NB, May 25, 2016—Tomorrow, May 26, 2016 the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and Chamber’s across the country are celebrating Resource Recognition Day by highlighting the important work done by local champions from across the country that lead the way in Canada’s natural resource sector.
“Canada is fortunate to have access to such a bounty of natural resources, but even more privileged to be able to count on champions that develop our resources in a responsible way. By using new technologies and original procedures, companies of all types and sizes are ensuring that Canada can lead the way in the production and use of natural resources, a sector that accounts for over 1.8 million jobs in Canada,” said the Hon. Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. “These are the stories we need to tell, the examples we need to set. By presenting a positive message and engaging an honest and open discussion with Canadians, we can leverage our natural resources into an important economic advantage.”
Chambers of commerce from across the country will be recognizing the importance of natural resources through a social media campaign using the hashtag #ResourceChamp. The Canadian Chamber of Commerce Twitter handle is @CdnChamberofCom.
“Responsible development of natural resources is a high priority for our chamber and our community” said Krista Ross, Fredericton Chamber CEO. “Fredericton has become and innovation and technology hub, but we can’t forget that many of these advancements were the result of solving problems for the resource sector. In many ways we are a natural resourcebased economy.”
Fredericton area residents can follow @Fton_Chamber, @KRossChamber, and @MPetersChamber for information that highlights how important natural resource development is to our local, provincial
and national economies.
“To encourage more businesses to showcase the great work they are doing in the natural resource sector, I am proud to announce the launch of the second edition of the Resource Champion Awards. The nomination period is opening today, and we look forward to celebrating Canada’s leading resource companies,” Mr. Beatty added. More information can be found at www.chamber.ca
