ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Enterprise Fredericton - the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce works closely with Enterprise Fredericton, greater Fredericton’s economic development organization, to meet established economic development objectives. The Chamber budgets $10,000 annually to support initiatives of economic development. In addition, the Chamber is active in numerous initiatives to attract new businesses to greater Fredericton and instrumental in updating the region’s economic development vision. Community Agencies – the Chamber works in cooperation with other business organizations, meeting regularly to share information and work together on various projects. Participants in the Community Agencies initiative are:

Junior Achievement of Fredericton – developing entrepreneurs of the future is the primary goal in contributing financially to the JA movement. As a business organization, the Chamber recognizes the benefits of developing the business people of tomorrow. The Chamber participates as an Award Sponsor at the “Futures Unlimited Banquet” and invites Junior Achievement Students to participate at many Chamber Events throughout the year. Junior Achievers have been called upon to say the Invocation at several high profile events such as the State of the City Address and Business Excellence Awards. Other activities which have been fundraisers for the group include manning coat checks at events and hosting a putting contest at the Chamber's popular Golf Tournament each year.

Participation in Tourism Initiatives:
• Undertake lobby efforts in support of enhancing the positive impact of tourism on the economy of the region. Issues include highway signage and a conference center.
• Capital Region Tourism Association – the General Manager of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce participates in an organization of tourism industry people mandated to improve communication and activities of the greater Fredericton tourism industry.
