Productivity Matters 1

The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee is pleased to launch this new initiative focused on Productivity. Since June 2006, the committee and its co-chairs have been working to develop valuable information and tools for the benefit of Chamber members.

So why does productivity matter? Today more than ever, New Brunswick firms are faced with aggressive competition from all corners of the world. We are calling on industry leaders, small business owners and elected officials to take action and improve the province’s key productivity measures.

The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce has developed fact sheets for members of the Chamber to access which cover the topics of finance, sales & marketing, human resources, information technology, regulation and operations.

The Chamber also conducted interviews with successful business leaders who have adopted productivity improvement practices in their firms. Those “prod casts” can be downloaded from the Chamber’s website.

The Chamber also released a policy paper entitled “Productivity Matters: An Agenda for Government Action” which outlines recommendations for government action in five key areas- human capital, investment, taxation, innovation and regulation.
