Business Excellence Awards Criteria

Nominate an Outstanding Business For a 2010 Business Excellence Award
Nominations will be reviewed by an independent selection committee and recipients will be announced at an awards banquet on October 19, 2010. Details and criteria to be considered can be found below.

Small Business Category—The business must have 10 full-time employees or less.

Intermediate Business Category—The business must have more than 10 employees but less than 50 employees.

Large Business Category
—The business must have more than 50 employees.

For each of these three categories, the Selection Committee will consider some or all of the following criteria:

- A reputation for providing a superior level of customer service.
- Use ingenuity and innovation to overcome challenges and compete in the marketplace.
- Participation in and/or support for community activities.
- A focus on purchasing supplies/services locally.
- Executes notable employee relations/recognition initiatives.
- Achieved significant employment and/or business growth.
- Membership in good standing of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce
- Other notable achievements.

Community Impact Award
Recognizes the accomplishments of those organizations in the not-for-profit sector which contribute to the social and cultural well-being of the greater Fredericton area.

Matthew McCrea Elliott Sustainable Leadership Award

Recognizes organizations that have contributed to Fredericton's reputation as a smart, sustainable city. The nominee must be a member in good standing with the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, may be private sector, government or non-profit:
- Development or implementation of technology for measurable business impact.
- Development or implementation of sustainable products and practices.

Wilson Insurance Ltd. Youth Entrepreneur Award
The Youth Entrepreneur Award is intended to showcase a local young person(s) who has successfully launched a new full-time enterprise which has proved to be a productive and viable company. The following eligibility criteia must be met for this award:
- Must have been in business no more than three years.
- Owner/Owners must be under 35 years of age.
- Can demonstrate business growth and development.
- Must be located in the Greater Fredericton Area.

Bell Aliant Fredericton Business Person of the Year Award
Recognizes the accomplishments of a business owner who has succeeded through innovation and risk-taking or achieved success in introducing new products or services or growing an existing product line through a unique approach.
