(Fredericton, NB) – The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce is calling for applications for its annual postsecondary scholarship for chamber members and their families.
Administered by the Fredericton Community Foundation, a onetime, nonrenewable scholarship in the amount of $1000 will be awarded each year to an “…employee of a member in good standing of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, OR be the child, spouse or partner of a member or their
“Awarding our scholarship to a deserving student is a highlight for the chamber’s board of directors every year,” stated Stephen Hill, chamber president. “It underscores the vision of the chamber Community Prosperity Through Business. This is something that the directors and staff members live and breathe everyday and it’s a pleasure to see a physical embodiment of our vision.”
The scholarship is awarded by the chamber selection committee based a number of factors including, but not limited to: educational performance, work experience, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.
“We appreciate that we are able to bring back six pastpresidents every year as our selection committee,” said Krista Ross, chamber CEO. “It shows the dedication that these individuals have to both our chamber of commerce and our community.”
“We are also heartened every year by the quantity and quality of applicants every year,” Ross added. “It is a little extra motivation for our organization to help improve the economic conditions in the community to give these talented young people a reason to stay or come back to Fredericton when they are finished their postsecondary education.”
The recipient of the scholarship will be formally recognized at a subsequent chamber event and featured on our website.
