Major Responsibilities
The Volunteer Manager is responsible for coordinating volunteer recruitment, training, and scheduling, the development of the volunteer database, the set up of the volunteer centre and organizing the volunteer post-event thank-you party.  This is a contract position and the Volunteer Manager must be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, particularly during the 2022 East Coast Music Awards: Festival and Conference, May 4 – 8, 2022.

This position will require communication with all staff and determining their realistic volunteer requirements. Diplomacy and patience will be required. Under the direct supervision of the Operations Event Manager and reporting to the CAO, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the smooth operation of all aspects of the event requiring volunteer involvement.

The Volunteer Manager reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Work with the Volunteer Outreach Coordinator to develop and execute a plan for volunteer recruitment including screening and online applications.
Work with each department to fulfil their volunteer needs, including scheduling shifts using Better Impact software
Communicate with volunteers on an ongoing basis to keep them up to date on shifts, general information on the festival, and respond to questions/concerns in a timely manner.
Review and revise Volunteer Manual and distribute to volunteers and team
Assume responsibility for on-site volunteer training and management, as required.
Manage Volunteer Centre, including set-up and strike.
Work with operations manager to coordinate food and beverage needs for the centre as well as off-site venues
Work with Operations Manager to coordinate volunteer benefits and appreciation event
Set priorities and able to work independently and as part of a team
Training ECMA team in Better Impact
Work collaboratively with other team members
Performing other duties as may be required.
Prepare final report including all statistics and link to volunteer survey.

Qualifications:
Have strong organizational and admin skills, detail-oriented with a strong ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
Be reliable, hard-working, flexible, conscientious, and a team player with a positive attitude.
Proven interpersonal and leadership skills.
Be creative, resourceful, flexible, and take initiative.
Demonstrate problem-solving capabilities, be able to assess and handle difficult situations.
Previous experience working with large groups of volunteers
Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience working with Better Impact Volunteer engagement software is considered an asset.
Specific experience with, or knowledge of, the regional music scene, and event operations is desirable.
Bilingualism an asset.
