Fredericton, NB – 2024 marks the 150th anniversary year of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce. Established in 1874, the 150 years of operation of the Fredericton Chamber signifies the commitment, effectiveness and continued impact of the chamber and its members.
“150 years of service to not only the business community, but the whole Fredericton community, is certainly a proud achievement worthy of celebration,” said Morgan Peters, CEO of the chamber. “Our organizational vision is Stronger Community Through Business Prosperity, and we recognize the symbiotic relationship between the chamber, our members, and the community in which we live and work. We mark this occasion with reverence for the past and optimism for the future concerning our growth in Fredericton.”
There will be a series of events throughout the year to commemorate this auspicious milestone, including a flag raising at city hall and a tree planting to represent our foundational role and continued commitment to the Fredericton community.
As the centerpiece event to these sesquicentennial celebrations, the chamber is thrilled to announce our 150 Anniversary Gala Dinner to be held on April 24th at the Delta Hotels Marriott Fredericton. For this night of celebration, it is our pleasure to present special guest speaker, Steve Murphy. Having spent more than forty-five years in radio and television, Steve Murphy is one of Atlantic Canada’s most recognized broadcasters. This proud New Brunswicker’s career spans from CFBC in his hometown of Saint John to the anchor chair of CTV News at 6 for close to 30 years. On a night for reflecting on the history of our region and celebration of what’s to come, Steve Murphy’s stories and insights will be a wonderful experience for all in attendance to enjoy.
“The longevity and impact of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce throughout our 150-year history is a testament to the support of our members, who for generations have recognized the value of the Chamber of Commerce,” said Michael Melvin, 2023-24 President of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce. “The current board of directors and staff are proud of this legacy and are eager to continue to be the Voice of Business in our community.”
Ultimately, the 150-year legacy of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce is a tribute to our members, who have been collaborative leaders and lent their individual talents and energy to prosperity in our community. As we celebrate 150 years of dedication and service to the businesses, non-profit organizations and beyond, we look forward to continuing to work with our partners to ensure that the Fredericton Region continues to grow and be a community of choice for generations to come.
