Fredericton’s Health Care Summit
“Clear and Present Needs of a Growing Capital City”
October 24, 2024 – For Immediate Release
The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with St. Thomas University, City of Fredericton and the New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation, is proud to announce an event vital to the future of the Fredericton Community, Fredericton’s Health Care Summit, “Clear and Present Needs of a Growing Capital City”.
On November 12, 2024 we invite our members, concerned citizens and other stakeholders to come together at Kinsella Auditorium, McCain Hall, for a morning of direct discussion about the current state of Fredericton’s health care and the needs of our community, now and in the foreseeable future as together we work to elevate Fredericton.
“Health care is an essential component of a livable city and a primary concern of the business community – in fact, it has been the #1 member-identified issue in our annual survey for a number of years” said Morgan Peters, CEO, Fredericton Chamber of Commerce. “In an issue area such as health care, we are convinced that information, engagement and timely action is the only solution, and we take seriously our role as a convenor and facilitator of information to our member businesses, organizations and the broader community.”
“As the growth of our city continues, it is critical that Frederictonians have timely access to health care” said Kate Rogers, Mayor of Fredericton. “The City of Fredericton is committed to collaborating with community leaders and organizations to foster a meaningful dialogue on health care challenges and opportunities, while continuing to advocate for solutions that will ensure a healthy and vibrant city for all.”
Not only will this event seek to present direct information from stakeholders engaged in our community’s health care services and improvement efforts, it also stands to represent the alignment of stakeholders, such as the chamber, St. Thomas University – representing our education sector, non-profit organizations such as the New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation, as well as the City of Fredericton – all working together for the betterment of our community.
“We are pleased to partner with the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, the City of Fredericton, and the New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation to present this important summit. Whether it is our faculty and staff or our students, the current state and future needs of heath care in our city are matters of great importance. Further, the scholarly work of our faculty touches many aspects of the heath care sector, and so STU is often a hub of important conversations. We are pleased to host this gathering and play our part in fostering discussions and solutions,” said Dr. Nauman Farooqi, President and Vice-Chancellor of St. Thomas University.
We look forward to this important morning event, beginning with the breakfast and networking portion sponsored by RBC Royal Bank, followed by a panel discussion featuring academia, a representative of the Greater Fredericton Professional Physicians Organization, the City of Fredericton’s Mayor Kate Rogers and Fredericton Chamber of Commerce CEO, Morgan Peters. We will also be announcing a special guest for a fireside chat in the near future.
Together we must connect to first diagnose the issues of our community, and through this event and our working following this summit, identify an immediate treatment plan of action to impact Fredericton’s Health Care.
